The American Art Therapy Association (AATA) invites you to attend a bilingual virtual session to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Art Therapy: ¿Cómo se dice? will focus on how art therapists can better work with Latinx individuals and translating art therapy terminology into Spanish. This CEU eligible session will be presented by Michael Galarraga, LPC, ATR-BC, CSAC, CSOTP, and moderated by Prof. Nadia Paredes, MA, LMFT, ATR. Join us on Thursday, October 13 at 7 PM ET.
Michael Galarraga
Michael Galarraga, MS, LPC, ATR-BC, CSAC, CSOTP (he/him) is a practicing art therapist and an AATA Board Member. He has previously served on both Virginia and Georgia Art Therapy chapters to promote community engagement projects supporting advocacy for the profession of art therapy. Michael’s work has more recently been centered on advocating for People of Color in the LGBTQIA+ community and Spanish speaking/Latinx individuals in need of therapeutic services. He is the proud owner of Intersection Therapy, LLC, a private practice in Philadelphia, PA and an adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson University.
Nadia Fernanda Paredes Guapo
Nadia Fernanda Paredes Guapo, MA, LMFT, ATR is an art therapist with more than 15 years of experience working in the mental health field and is the current president elect of the AATA. She earned her degree in Psychology from the University Iberoamericana in Mexico City and earned her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialty in Art Therapy at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. She has a license as a bilingual art therapist and marriage and family psychotherapist in the United States in the state of California. She is certified as a facilitator of Intuition Painting® and as a Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. She has experience giving bicultural services to older immigrants, pregnant adolescents, and as a consultant in the area of preparation for natural disasters. At this moment she has a business focused on creative wellbeing and is a professor of continuing education at the Anáhuac University in Mexico City, teaching the use of diverse art techniques and materials as a form of introspection and mental health prevention.
