Part three of our three-part 2023 Ethics Series.
This presentation will include a live panel discussion on ethics and art therapy. The purpose is to engage attendees in a stimulating discussion about ongoing issues related to ethics within our field. Participants will learn diverse thoughts of practicing art therapists and how they navigate these issues from various vantage points within the field.
Jennifer Waters
MA, ATR, LPCC, LMHC
Jennifer Waters, MA, ATR, LPCC, LMHC is a Registered Art Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (CA), and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MA). Jen received her M.A. in Expressive Therapies in 2012 from Lesley University and has had 15 years of professional experience providing arts-based interventions in community mental health settings. She offers clinical counseling, workshops, and training services that highlight the use of the creative process. Jen works with children, teens, and adults on issues related to life transitions, grief and loss, relationships, self-care, creativity development, mindfulness, trauma, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, gender, sexuality, racial trauma, and adoption. Jen's approach is eclectic in nature and integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches such as: person centered counseling, art therapy, play, music, movement, drama, expressive writing, somatic therapy, cognitive and behavioral interventions, Jungian and depth psychology, humanistic/existential/transpersonal therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Jen is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Saybrook University, where she is specializing in Psychology and Creativity Studies.
Deborah Fung
LCAT ATR-BC, LMSW
Deborah Fung LCAT ATR-BC, LMSW is a licensed creative arts therapist and licensed master social worker based in New York City. She works as a clinical coordinator in community mental health and continues to offer therapy to clients in the clinic and in private practice. Deborah Fung is a fieldwork supervisor for the NYU graduate art therapy program. Deborah Fung is also the chair of the AATA ethics committee. When not working, Deborah enjoys swimming, scuba diving, and painting.
Sarah Vollmann
MPS, ATR-BC, LICSW
Sarah Vollmann, MPS, ATR-BC, LICSW, is a registered, board-certified art therapist and a licensed independent clinical social worker. She maintains a private practice with a specialization in grief and loss. Vollmann is a practicum faculty member of the Portland Institute for Loss and Transition, an advisory board member of the Replacement Child Forum, and an adjunct professor in Indiana University's graduate art therapy program. As a member of the Artful Grief team of art therapists, she works with military families facing suicide bereavement and traumatic loss. She is also the Lead Counselor at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Massachusetts. She has published articles and book chapters on grief and loss, and she presents both nationally and internationally on art therapy, grief, and bereavement.
Jessica Hart Bass
LCMHC, LCPC, LCPAT, ATR-BC, NCC
Jessica Bass, LCPC, LCPAT, ATR-BC, NCC, the Director of Clinical Services of For All Seasons, Inc., will be the trainer for the program. Bass received her undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and a dual master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the states of Maryland and North Carolina, a Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapist in Maryland, and a nationally Board-Certified Art Therapist through the ATCB, Inc. Her clinical focus is incorporating a multi-modality approach to treat clients impacted by complex trauma.
Jenni Ford
LCPC, ATR-BC
Jenni has a wealth of experience in various clinical settings, including private practice, hospice, and inpatient care. As a sex-positive and LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, she strives to provide a safe and supportive environment for clients of all ages who are dealing with challenges such as loss, chronic illness, eating disorders, mood disorders, and more.
