Kate Madigan, a social action art therapist, works with forensic patients in Oahu, Hawaii. Through stories and images, she will explore how and why our lives and experiences are shaped by social ideologies and locations. Participants will also learn how to make three varieties of Hawaiian leis.

Kate Madigan ATR-BC has been working as an art therapist with forensic populations for 12 years. In 2019, after working for 11 years at Patton State Hospital in Southern California, Kate took a job as Hawaii State Hospital’s first art therapist. Her favorite modality is murals and she facilitated over 150 murals at Patton State Hospital. Kate recently began her first mural at Hawaii State Hospital with patients. She enjoys presenting her work at various conferences nationally and is a prolific and passionate artist herself.
