Description

Art therapists can create a thematic approach to treatment by utilizing children's books as an introduction to art therapy directives. This presentation will explore the author's development of bibliotherapy techniques along with experientials in treating young children (4-12) in art therapy group and individual sessions.

    1. Identify 3 books from children's literature which can be paired with art therapy directives to create a thematic expressive therapy group for young child clients.
    2. Name 3 treatment goals which can be addressed through the pairing of bibliotherapy and art therapy.

    Laura Fuller-Cooper

    Laura Fuller-Cooper, ATRL-BC, NCC is a founding member of Milwaukee Art Therapy Collective in Milwaukee, WI.  In addition to art therapy training, Laura holds a credential in Early Childhood Education from U.C.L.A.  Laura is an adjunct faculty member at Mount Mary University, Alverno College, and Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.  Laura currently serves at the President of the Wisconsin Art Therapy Association.
