Description

The use of comics and graphic novels in art therapy can tell difficult stories with or without words. They are experienced by readers and creators at multiple reading levels, and engage high levels of meaning making through the countless integrations of text to imagery.

    2. Describe two ways comics or graphic novels are customizable and individualized to client developmental needs and goals.
    3. Name four ways that graphic novels and comics apply multiple levels of meaning making and value for therapeutic sessions.

She envisions her leadership in terms of directness, empathy, diversity responsiveness, and empowerment.

    Jessica Masino Drass, MA, ATR-BC is a PhD Student and Research Fellow at Drexel University. She was previously an art therapist at a DBT-based womens trauma partial hospital program and a high school art teacher. She also has a Masters in School Psychology and owns a community art studio, Wise Mind Creations

    Rumi Clinton

    Care Clinician, Alzheimer's Association

    Rumi Clinton, MA, is an artist focused on sculpture, book arts, comics and illustration and has worked in adult mental health for the past 7 years. She currently works as a Care Clinician with the Alzheimer’s Association. She received her Master’s degree in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute. Her thesis was based on researching Comics Art Therapy as a treatment for Veterans diagnosed with PTSD
