Description
With more than 30 years of collective supervision experience, this unique panel will discuss how to be a supervisor and a supervisee through our lived experiences as three different generations. An emphasis on addressing differences through an intersectional framework will be made.
Learning Objectives
- Identify three methods of effective communication in supervision to achieve the most out of the supervisory relationship.
- Identify three unique reasons and related expectations for supervision in different contexts (i.e., classroom group supervision, students in the field, new professionals seeking certification or licensure, seasoned professionals, and supervising across disciplines).
- Recognize three aspects of how Intersectionality and cross-cultural theory within the supervisory relationship is utilized to enhance the supervisee’s ability to navigate differences within the therapeutic alliance.
Yasmine Awais
Associate Clinical Professor, Drexel University
Yasmine J. Awais, MAAT, ATR-BC, ATCS, LCAT, LPC, is Associate Clinical Professor in the Art Therapy and Counseling Program at Drexel University. She has extensive clinical and supervisory experience practicing in non-profits for underserved communities, public schools, and medical rehabilitation centers in Boston, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. Her research focus is on the need for increasing diversity in art therapy. She is currently in the doctoral program in Social Welfare at the Graduate Center, City University of New York.
Daniel Blausey

Daniel Blausey, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT, ATCS is a New York City based art therapist, artist, and educator. For over 20 years he has specialized within the client themes of sexual orientation, gender identity, bereavement, and childhood sexual trauma. As a presenter he has facilitated local, national, and international level trainings, workshops, and presentations. He is the founder of Studio Blue: Creative Arts Therapy PLLC serving clients in Manhattan and New Paltz, NY.
Dr. Cindy Gordon
Adjunct Faculty Member, Naropa University
Cindy Gordon, PhD, LPC, ATR-BC practices art therapy and animal-assisted therapy in her private practice in Longmont and in Boulder, CO. Her areas of specialization include adults with childhood trauma; grief and loss; living with chronic diseases; and body image and self-esteem. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Naropa University.
Emily Reim Ifrach
Owner, Artache LLC
Emily Reim Ifrach, MAAT, CEDCAT, REAT, ATR-BC, LPC, NCC currently runs art therapy groups for Eating Disorder and Substance Abuse treatment facilities. In her free time she works with local organizations making community peace poles and focusing on the body positive movement.
