Description

The impact of sexual violence necessitates an immediate clinical response and uninterrupted therapy to achieve better outcomes for victims. In order to develop better treatment programs, it is crucial to understand the limitations of traditional advocacy from paraprofessionals to the management of these disorders and develop integrated counseling programs.

    2. Describe at least three benefits to the inclusion of trauma response models and art therapy into a rape crisis center.

    Carol Olson, MA, MAAT, ATR-BC, LPC, CSAC, is a board-certified art therapist and licensed counselor. She has completed clinical supervision training. She has completed two Master's Degrees in human service related degrees (Counseling and Art Therapy) as well as a bachelor's degree in Psychology. She has more than 15 years of clinical experience working in a variety of settings and with various populations. She also has experience in leading non-profit organizations. She is currently the Owner and Director of The Creative Arts Space: Art-Art Therapy-Arts Activism, Secretary and Editor-in-Chief of The Pixel Project, Social Media Rep of the Virginia Art Therapy Association, and an Advisory Board Member at End Violence Against Women International.
