0502 - El Duende Process Painting in Supervision: Journeys to Relational Resource

Description

For this course, the technical and conceptual stages of El Duende Process Painting are explored first, after which internship students share their multimedia visual journey capstone projects. Witnessing the transformational flow from week to week reveals and illuminates the unique process of integrating this approach with art therapy group supervision.

Learning Objectives
    1. Identify essential elements when teaching art therapy in a global context.
    2. Learn how to integrate international educational standards within local culture.
    3. Understand challenges for building art therapy programs outside of the US.

    Abbe Miller

    Associate Professor and Art Show Coordinator, Albertus Magnus College

    Abbe Miller, MS,  ATR-BC, LPCA has taught nationwide, the processes of transformational art psychotherapy for over 37 years. She is Associate Professor and Art Show Coordinator of the Graduate Art Therapy Program at Albertus Magnus College and maintains a private practice.  She is an exhibiting artist. She has numerous journal articles and is a third year doctoral student at Lesley University.

    Caitlin Iannucci

    Caitlin Iannucci, MAAT, graduated in 2010 with her Master's Degree in Art Therapy from Albertus Magnus College. She is now working as a clinician with elementary school children at a school-based health center, where she implements solution-focused art therapy. Her commentary on her father’s own healing art process was featured in Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association in 2007

    Lisa Kisiel

    Lisa Kisiel is a graduate student at Albertus Magnus College in the Master of Arts in Art Therapy program. She has completed her Associates Degree of Fine Arts with concentration in photography from Paire College of Art and her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with concentration in Art Therapy from Albertus Magnus College. She has worked with the substance abuse population and at risk youth throughout her undergraduate and graduate internship placements.

    Julia Smith, MA, is a graduate from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Art Therapy also from Albertus Magnus College in 2002.
