If you registered for an AATA conference, you can use the Online Learning Academy (OLA) to access eligible conference sessions, complete any required continuing education components, and retrieve your Continuing Education Certificates (CECs).

Please use the Dashboard option on the left side of the Online Learning Academy to access the conference sessions associated with your registration.

Your access to conference sessions and available on-demand content is based on the conference day(s) and registration options you purchased.

The American Art Therapy Association does not issue Continuing Education Certificates to individuals for presenting or instructing a session. However, some credentialing and licensing organizations, including the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB), may offer continuing education credit for presenting. Presenters should contact their credentialing or licensing organization directly for information about eligibility and documentation requirements.

Accessing Your AATA Conference Sessions

Begin by logging into the Online Learning Academy (OLA) and opening your Dashboard.

From your Dashboard, locate the applicable conference and select the session for which you would like to claim continuing education credit.

Each eligible conference session has its own continuing education requirements and individual Continuing Education Certificate (CEC).

Once you have completed all required components for that session, your CEC will become available.

Make Sure You Are Logged Into the Correct AATA Account

Your conference registration, session access, continuing education records, and CECs are connected to your individual AATA account.

Please make sure you are logged into the same AATA account associated with your conference registration before attempting to access your sessions or claim your Continuing Education Certificates.

This is a little more useful than simply saying “make sure you are logged in,” because the real issue is being logged into the correct account.

Attended Session Live

If You Attended the Session Live

Attendance for eligible live sessions is recorded during the conference.

To claim your continuing education credit, select the session from your Dashboard, open the Contents tab, and complete the required:

  • Quality Assessment

Once the required component has been completed, your Continuing Education Certificate (CEC) will become available.

If a recording of the session is available, you may also be able to re-watch it for educational purposes. However, continuing education credit cannot be earned twice for the same session.

If you have already earned credit for attending the session live, you cannot earn additional continuing education credit by completing the on-demand version of that same session.

Watching Self-Study

If You Are Completing a Self-Study Session

Eligible conference sessions that you did not attend live may be available to complete on-demand as self-study continuing education.

Your access to on-demand conference sessions is based on the conference registration option and conference day(s) included with your registration.

To complete an eligible session on-demand, select the session from your Dashboard, open the Contents tab, and complete each required component in the order presented.

On-demand continuing education requirements generally include:

  • Self-Study Session Content
  • Quiz
  • Quality Assessment

Please Note: All required components must be successfully completed before your Continuing Education Certificate (CEC) becomes available.

Do I need to pay anything additional to retrieve my Continuing Education Certificate?

No. There is no additional fee to retrieve a Continuing Education Certificate (CEC) for an eligible conference session included with your registration.

What continuing education approvals does AATA offer?

AATA offers continuing education for eligible sessions under its provider approvals, including the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB), National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and New York State Licensed Creative Arts Therapists (LCAT).

Please review the individual session title and description to determine which continuing education approvals apply to that session. Not every conference session is eligible for every type of continuing education credit.

It is each attendee’s responsibility to determine whether continuing education earned through AATA meets the requirements of their individual license, credential, employer, or regulatory body.

How many continuing education credits can I earn for a conference session?

The number of continuing education credits available varies based on the length and format of the session.

The number of credits available for an eligible session will be identified within the session information in the Online Learning Academy and on the Continuing Education Certificate issued after successful completion.

Which conference sessions can I complete on-demand?

On-demand access is based on the conference registration option and conference day(s) included with your registration.

For example, if your registration included all conference days, you may have access to eligible on-demand sessions from throughout the conference. If your registration included only a specific conference day, your access will generally be limited to eligible sessions offered on that day.

Availability may vary by session, as some conference sessions may not be available for on-demand viewing.

How long will I have access to conference sessions on-demand?

The on-demand access period may vary by conference.

The applicable completion deadline will be communicated as part of the conference information and/or displayed within the Online Learning Academy.

We encourage attendees to complete all required session content, quizzes, and assessments before the stated deadline.

Once you have successfully completed all continuing education requirements for a session, the corresponding Continuing Education Certificate (CEC) will remain available through your Online Learning Academy account.
