[Self-Study] MS-77 Gold Foiling Benefits with Heme/Onc Pediatrics

Description:
This workshop will explain the benefits of using foiling with patients, families, and staff in a medical setting specifically focused on pediatrics in hematology and oncology. Participants will learn goals achieved through case examples, the final art outcome, and be invited to engage in a foiling experiential. 

Learning Objectives:
1: Attendees will be able to describe how norms of race, gender, sexuality, and ability are communicated in language.
2: Attendees will be able to identify three examples of language that are aligned with the values of inclusion, equity, and anti-oppression. 
3: Attendees will be able to describe at least one principle of relational ethics that reduces bias in how one communicates. 
 
Suggested Art Materials:
White drawing paper, and a black marker will be used during the session. Optional Materials for completing the art process after the demo in this presentation: Access to a laser ink copy machine, Either an Iron, hair straightener, or laminator, 2 pieces of computer paper, Scissors and Minc gold foil.

Leara Glinzak, MSAT, ATR-BC is a Board Certified Art Therapist and Owner of I Light LLC and The Faris Foundation Art Therapist at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Cancer and Hematology Center. She attended Seton Hill University for her Bachelor of Arts in Art Therapy and Mount Mary University for her Master of Science in Art Therapy with a concentration in Counseling. Leara is passionate about advocacy, research and education where she has previous teaching experience and has been published in the Journal of the American Art Therapy Association. Within the field she has worked with those living with mental health, addiction, grief, spiritual growth, Dementia and medical art therapy.
